Keldric was mildly depressed when he spoke to some local informants at Rayacre and didn't find any requests waiting for him. He may not have been the best mercenary out there but he had a reputation, sort of. He hadn't been active for a few months due to personal concerns but that didn't mean people were allowed to forget about him! The tall man came to a halt and slicked back his tousled hair. He needed to remain calm, no need to get indignant over a few lousy miscommunications. He was a patient guy but just knowing that nobody was looking for his expertise since he was gone stung a little. Shaking his head in disbelief, the cloaked individual turned a corner and kept on walking. Even though he blandly stared ahead, he scanned the area around him with the use of his peripheral vision. There were poor people all about, some of them incredibly shifty. Keldric wasn't entirely defenseless without a weapon but he didn't relish the idea of getting ganked in an alleyway by a bunch of beggars with daggers. Sighing at that thought, he stepped through an opened door.
Inside was nothing fancy, it looked like a run-down tavern except it was still running, or maybe walking. The barkeep was a seedy looking man with no hair and a lazy eye. He looked rather scrawny and the towel draped over a shoulder was dirty with grease. The other occupants didn't look so bad as he but not that good either. All of them were criminals or minions of criminals too "good" for this place. Keldric strode over to an empty table, which only had two rickety stools, and sat down, letting his cloak drape around him. It was as if everyone had just noticed him and all glanced in his direction. Before he was just a random person that may have stumbled in, now he was a potential customer that was there for a reason, had purposely walked in to what could be the end of his life. Keldric kept a nonchalant look on his face and waved the proprietor over. The thin man wiped his grimy hands on his dirty towel and scurried over.
"Y-yes sir?" He said in a scratchy voice.
"I'd like a mug of ale." The man nodded hurriedly and went back to his bar. He returned a few moments later and set it down then left Keldric in peace. He had been about to pay the man but then realized nobody who patronizes this place pays. He idly wondered how it stayed in business if the barkeeper never pressed for gil. Shrugging, he took a sip of his ale and hid his disgust for its flat taste. He stared at nothing in particular while ignoring the hard stares from half the occupants. They probably wanted to know who was encroaching on their territory.

aren't you something to admire, cause you shine so bright like a mirror
Despite the time (mid-day to late evening), there was one young Black Mage in particular that was just waking up. She had been out late the night before wandering the streets seeing what new developments they built in Rayacre. It was her home after all and if something new was going down, she had to be a part of it. But the hype was for nothing... the only thing was this one bar in particular that they revamped and made look a bit nicer and more appealing. This is where this young mage was headed now. She walked with an attitude. Her hips swayed gracefully and stands of red and black hair blew gently in the breeze as she walked. Her hair was out instead of in an up-do like it usually is and reached down to her rear. The girl's golden hues were often covered by the dual colored bangs. Her gold hues were surrounded by thick black eye liner and red eye shadow to surround that. A very dark look. She wore a long black dress which had an intense flare at the bottom with elegant golden patterns and high heeled boots that clicked against the ground beneath her. Over her left eye was an eye patch with the same design. Onyx. Onyx Blackheart is her name. She had lived in Rayacre her entire life now with big dreams of leaving and moving to Exhul to study magic more. Since she moved out of her parents' home and lived on her own, she started to decide what she wanted out of life. A husband, kids of her own, and to be the best Mage ever known. Simple stuff. When Onyx walked into the bar, she noticed there were already a few people. New faces she had never seen around town before. A few were familiar to her. Criminals.. they even looked like a tough crowd. As she walked in, she noticed looks turn to her from another man who might have walked in only a few moments before her. Men grinned and gawked at her. Onyx simply rolled her eyes and found an empty table to sit. As she sat, she crossed her legs under the table, hating the stares she knew she was getting. But with the look in her eye, she gave the impression 'come towards me and I swear I will kill you' which seemed to be working so far. When the barkeep approached her, Onyx glanced towards him and before he could even greet her, she spoke. "Gin. Doesn't matter what kind either.. Thank you." Right then, a soft smile curled across her delicate lips. She didn't want to come off giving him the wrong impression and appreciated his business. When the man walked off, Onyx propped her elbow up on the table and rested her cheek in her palm, letting out a deep sigh. This wasn't her usual crowd but she wanted to be 'in' no matter what. It was as if she ran this town, just never said anything about it. Onyx's gaze shifted around the room. There were still some eyes on her but her eyes stopped on the man that everyone was looking at before she entered. He had a cloak and really looked like he was new to town. From where she was sitting, he looked like he was built to be a fighter. When the barkeep came back with her drink, she placed a few Gil on the table and smiled again with another thanks as he took it and walked off. After taking a couple sips, she nodded, approving of the taste. LAIKA OF GS!
